Edward James Scarfe purchased our Finchley and South Mimms premises in the 1950s which we still own today. The Finchley and South Mimms sites were initially used as transport depots for our own vehicle fleet. At the peak of operations in 1970, the 12 companies in the group at that time operated 350 vehicles, employed 650 staff and its fleet clocked up 8 million miles per year. Operations within the group also included builders merchants, removals and storage and several fuel stations.
